To You I will cry, O Lord my Rock:
Do not be silent to me,
Lest, if You are silent to me,
I become like those who go down to the pit.
(Psalm 28:1)
Blessed be the Lord,
Because He has heard the voice of my supplications!
The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,
And with my song I will praise Him.
The Lord is their strength,
And He is the saving refuge of His [anointed.
(Psalm 28, 6-8)
How many times, without praying, have you cried out to God with the first words of this psalm? You know, I did the same one day. It was September 2000, I was fed up with the physical suffering that had been accompanying me day in and day out for over a year, and no one could diagnose it. I was desperate, I just wanted my situation to somehow be resolved, no matter how! What happened next? Seemingly nothing. But a few days later, as I was on the bus, I felt like someone else was with me. I don’t mean other passengers. I had a deep conviction that I had a Guardian Angel with me. And from that moment, this conviction accompanied me wherever I went, whatever I did. I was not alone. I couldn’t name it yet, but I had a sense that God was taking care of me and that He knew – He knew what I was going through. I could start addressing God with the second part of this psalm, and today I can declare it on the rooftops and to everyone! God knows about you. He is not deaf or unmoved; on the contrary, He is deeply moved and wants to reveal Himself as your guardian, your deliverer. Cry out and calmly wait for rescue.
- God, act in my situation with Your power! I want to witness Your work in my life!
For the body: Hello the Noble One! Or perhaps a Friend of God? A Horse Lover? What does your name mean? …and why am I asking this? In the Bible, names have significant meaning, and to put it bluntly – if someone didn’t have a name, they didn’t exist. The first thing God did after creating Adam was to command him to give names to everything. When you analyze biblical names, you’ll discover an incredible world of metaphors. And your name is not accidental! Do you know its true meaning? Maybe you’re a Pearl (Margaret), a Noble One (Agatha), a Truth-Bearer (Alicia), or you carry Christ (Christopher), or you’re a Rock (Peter), or a victor of the people (Nikodemus)? Find out what your name means and follow that path!
